Dead cow washes up at Island Bay beach after rough weather
A dead cow has washed up on Island Bay beach on Wednesday morning.
Wellington resident, Michael McCormack told Stuff that he spotted it about 7.50am on the dog-walking stretch, around 150 to 200 metres from the jetty.
He said he contacted the council after spotting it.
McCormack said he did not go too close, but could see the cow’s ribs and believed it had been knocked around by rocks.
He believes the cow had most likely been washed ashore in the recent rough weather, possibly travelling via Karori Stream and along the south coast before ending up on the beach.
