The ACT Party moved quickly to rally donations, and more votes, as soon as TVNZ aired its latest poll result.
The TVNZ Verian poll has Labour and National languishing while minor parties to the Left or Right, the Greens and ACT, gained support.
David Seymour's email to supporters encouraged strategic voting, something National has been rallying against.
"Because of how MMP works, extra party votes for National are unlikely to add a single extra MP to the centre-right bloc. A Party Vote for ACT directly increases the number of seats the coalition wins," he said.
Earlier today, National leader Christopher Luxon said it was "an insanely stupid idea" for people to vote for ACT or NZ First if they wanted a National government.
The party also pushed this anti-strategic voting message at its campaign launch, with John Key speaking to the National Party crowd to warn against split voting.
ACT also used the opportunity to ask for more donations, saying it needed funding because National's falling support meant the coalition would - on these polls - likely not return to power.
"There is another part of tonight’s poll we cannot ignore. On these numbers, the current coalition parties risk losing their majority. That will concern many ACT supporters, it concerns me too," Seymour said.
