New poll shows Opportunity below threshold

A new political poll has the Opportunity Party below the 5% threshold, which shows how close this election will be.

The latest Taxpayers Union Curia Poll has just dropped. It shows:
  • National at 28.5%.
  • Labour at 28.2%.
  • The Green Party on 13.3%.
  • NZ First on 12%.
  • ACT on 9.2%.
  • And the Opportunity Party down at 4.8% - 0.2 points below the threshold to get into Parliament without an electorate seat.
If Opportunity did not get into Parliament, the coalition Government would have the numbers to govern.

Opportunity leader Qiulae Wong is campaigning to win an electorate seat, Mt Albert, but a recent poll had her ranked fourth in that race.

This poll would give the coalition parties 65 seats, with the Opposition 10 seats behind.
