Deputy Leader of the Opportunity Party Daniel Eb says he would vote for the National Party if he couldn’t vote for Opportunity.

Eb made the comments during an interview with Kea Kids News on Tuesday.

He was asked who he would vote for if he couldn't vote for the Opportunity Party. “Maybe the National Party,” Eb said.

Asked why, Eb responded that he used to vote for them.

"I used to vote for them a lot of the time when I was a younger person, and then I changed a little bit and started voting for other parties.

"I voted for the Green Party before; I almost voted for the Te Pāti Māori party before. So I'd probably just go back to what I used to do, which is not a good reason to do anything,” Eb said.

The Opportunity Party have said they would be happy to work with either National or Labour in government, and suggested they would first approach whichever party had the most support on election night.

In September, leader Qiulae Wong said her party’s five bottom lines are policies that both Labour and National “can agree to”.

Wong believes they can find “common ground” with both Labour and National on these policies, and said the party is prepared to negotiate with either side.
