"We're going to win" - Luxon won't say if he'd rather go into opposition than work with Opportunity

Christopher Luxon has been out and about at Catalina Bay markets this morning where he faced some questioning about Opportunity.

He's standing strong on ruling them out and wouldn't directly answer when asked if he'd rather go into opposition than try and work with them.

"I've ruled out Opportunity," he said. Pressed again whether that meant opposition was the preference he said: "Oh, no, it's going to, we're going to win".

And if they don't?

"It's not an option. We're going to win."

"I was in Greymouth on the West Coast yesterday, and, you know, people are really clear about the choice that's before them," he said.

"It's a four-party coalition with 6 leaders and 9 new taxes that's going to take the country backwards - spend more, tax more, borrow more - or people are understanding that actually there is a National government that's actually going to run the economy well, get us to surplus, pay down the debt, and that creates options for New Zealanders."

Stuff's latest Flip Forecaster shows National would need Opportunity to govern meaning a National government on current polling would need four parties too.

Speaking to media, Luxon also responded to the Greens latest policy to abolish the training wage for apprentices saying he did not support it.

"We want to make sure that businesses actually take a chance on young people, and that's one of the ways that they might just step out and actually take a chance on a on a young person."
