Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is giving a press conference
He described the shooting as a "devastating" terrorism incident and a "senseless attack" which aimed to create fear.
"This is a targeted attack on Jewish Australians... an act of evil antisemitism and terrorism, which has struck the heart of our nation."
He described the shooting as an "attack on our way of life".
"On behalf of all Australians to the Jewish community, we stand with you, we embrace you.
"You have every right to be proud of who you are and what you believe."
"You enrich us as a nation. You should never have to endure the loss you have suffered today.
"Australia will never submit to division, violence or hatred."
